✦ Case Study · Web3
Web3 Gaming
for Charity
A platform connecting gamers worldwide to play, earn, and give — turning playtime into a shared income stream between the player and a charity of their choice.
Overview
Playtime, turned into a shared payout.
Web3 Gaming for Charity connects gamers around the world to a simple idea: play, earn, and give — at the same time. Every session generates rewards that split between the player and a charity of their choosing, turning ordinary playtime into a small, ongoing act of giving without asking anyone to change how they already play.
I designed the product experience end-to-end, translating a Web3 play-to-earn model into an interface people could actually understand and trust — even without prior crypto experience.

The Challenge
Web3 is powerful — and often confusing.
Play-to-earn products tend to bury their value behind crypto jargon and wallet friction, which pushes away exactly the casual gamers a charity-giving product needs to reach.
Design Challenge
Make the giving mechanic feel effortless — the player shouldn't need to understand blockchain to trust that their playtime is genuinely funding a cause they care about.
What the product needed
- A payout model that's transparent without being technical
- An onboarding flow that doesn't scare off non-crypto-native gamers
- A simple way to select and track a supported charity
- A sense of real, visible impact from ordinary play
Design goals
- Make the split between player earnings and charity donations clear at a glance
- Reduce Web3 onboarding friction for first-time users
- Build trust through visible, simple tracking — not blockchain explainers
- Keep the gaming experience front and center, not the crypto layer
How It Works
Three simple steps, one shared outcome.
🎮Play
Gamers join and play as they normally would — the earning layer sits quietly in the background.
⬡Earn
Playtime generates rewards through Web3 play-to-earn mechanics, split transparently between player and cause.
❤️Give
A portion of every payout goes directly to the player's chosen charity — visible and trackable.

Lessons Learned
The hardest part of designing for Web3 isn't the blockchain — it's earning trust from people who've never needed to think about it before. Hiding the complexity, not explaining it, is usually the better design move.
